Bake your polymer clay art on a mug

To begin the process of attaching a polymer clay art to a mug, the art must first be ready to be baked. Preheat the oven to 110 degrees Celsius (or the recommended degree according to your clay instructions) and place the mug on a baking sheet. Bake the mug for one hour and then remove it from the oven to cool down.

De-attaching the art

After the mug has cooled down, use your finger nail to gently push the doll off. Sometimes it will come off in one piece and other times in separate pieces. If it comes off in separate pieces, glue each piece separately onto the mug.

Thoroughly clean the mug before gluing the doll onto it. Place a block of clay under the handle so that you can glue the doll exactly in the center. Pay attention to whether the mug is for a right or left-handed person. If it’s for a left-handed person, glue the art on the other side of the mug.

Use the strongest epoxy glue that you can find in the market. I use Uhu epoxy glue for my projects as it’s the strongest one in the German market and takes 90 minutes to dry. Mix equal parts of both glues and carefully apply the mixture onto the back of your work, leaving some areas without glue so that you can apply superglue later. Use a toothpick for smaller parts.

Apply superglue so that the doll doesn’t slide on the mug until the epoxy glue dries and makes bonds. Apply a few drops of super glue to the art to make it stick instantly. Wait a few seconds until it dries and then place the art in the center of the mug. Repeat the same steps for any other parts of the art using the epoxy glue and some drops of superglue. Finally, wait until the epoxy glue dries completely. This is how you can glue polymer clay art on a mug.
