1- What is FIMO clay?

Many people think of the FIMO as “dough for kids” or “FIMO playdough for kids” but FIMO is simply more than that. FIMO is a type of clay that can be used for modelling and sculpting.
There are two types of FIMO clay

• Polymer Clay, which should be baked in over
• Air-dry, which will be harden and dry out in room temperature.

You can use FIMO in the similar way of other sculpting clays and ceramics. It is easy to carve and form.

2- What can we make with them?

FIMO clay is suitable for all kinds of sculpturing purposes. They can be used for hobbies or professional means. You can craft many items using FIMO clay

Items such as:

• earrings, necklaces and jewelleries …
• Decoration on mugs, vases and pots
• Making sculptors or cake toppers

3- Do we need special tools to work with clay / polymer clay?

The short answer is “No”. You can use many kitchen items or things that are lying around the house for your work.

• You can use a set of small knifes for cutting and curving.
• An old rolling pin for flattening the clay.
• Toothpick for making small lines or grooves …
• A long metal ruler for cutting and measuring.

As a matter of facts any tools that can cut, curve, cure … can be used for sculpturing FIMO.

Attention: You should use a separate set of crafting items from daily use items. You should also always wash your hands after working/touching uncooked clay.

4 – Are decorated polymer clay mugs washable? Dishwasher safe? Microwave safe?

In brief yes, no and no.
The mug is washable but the clay is not. Just wash the inside as usual and use only water for the outside (dolls are not touching the food/drinks anyways.) In fact, liquid dishwasher soap can damage the FIMO clay.

You cannot put items that are made from FIMO clay or have FIMO clay on the like mugs in dishwasher.
You cannot put items that are made from FIMO clay or have FIMO clay on the such as mugs and vases in microwave.

5- Does it break easily?

FIMO clay is quite durable. Polymer clay that is cooked long enough in the right temperature can last the small/medium shocks. Polymer clay will have high resistance and it won’t break easily under normal daily usage.
On the other hand, air-dry clay have lower duration and resistance as they are air dried.

6 – is it safe to use these mugs?

Yes, you can wash the mug and have hot/cold beverages it them.

You can use these mugs on daily bases, hand wash them and store them similar to other kitchen items.

7- Is the color stable or will it disappear?

The color is stable and it will last a long time. The clay is also waterproof, the color will not come off with hand washing.
